  • 2022 IBSA Blind Football Asia/Oceania Championships

    Host : Kochi, India
    The Indian Blind Football Federation organised IBSA's international tournament in the region for the first time. Ten teams - China, Thailand, Japan, Iran, South Korea, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Australia and India - participated in the men’s tournament and the first women’s match of the championship between Japan and India was also played.
    Achievement
    The IBF Foundation worked strategically with four themes - communication with the local organising committee, improvement and homogenisation of the quality of competitions, local enlightenment and media relations to raise awareness. Apart from aiding the tournament, the IBF Foundation conducted workshops on visual impairment with local student volunteers. The total number of viewers at the end of the competition’s live coverage exceeded 38,000, much higher than in the previous championships in 2019.
  • 2022 IBSA Blind Football American Championships

    Summary
    Host : Cordoba, Argentina
    Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru took part. Argentina defeated Brazil in the final after a penalty shoot-out to become the new champions.
    Achievement
    The IBF Foundation contributed to the success of the competition, especially with regards to the quality of live streaming, receiving over 230,000 views. The IBF Foundation also provided financial support, covering a large part of the cost of the streaming. Notably, we shared guidelines for streaming and commentators with the local organising committee in advance, and met the streaming team and commentators to outline best practices in broadcasting blind football.
  • IBSA Blind Football World Grand Prix Puebla 2022

    Summary
    Host : Puebla, Mexico
    Five teams - Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Costa Rica and India - participated in the tournament with Brazil competing in and winning the event for the first time.
    Achievement
    Despite the short preparation period, IBF Foundation held weekly meetings with the local organising committee before the competition to check and give instructions on camera positions, and computer graphics and logos to be aired. Our staff also trained the English and Spanish-language play-by-play commentators on competition rules, as well as blind football and disability terminology. The combined views on IBSA’s and the official local organising committee’s YouTube channels was 30,386 views.
  • 2022 IBSA Blind Football European Championships

    Summary
    Host : Pescara, Italy
    France, Turkey, England, Germany, Italy, Greece, Poland, Romania, Spain, and Czech Republic participated in the tournament. The French Blind Football National Team became the new European champion. The event included IBSA's first official women's international competition.
    Achievement
    The IBF Foundation staff provided on-site support to deal with problems that arose during the tournament. Live streaming resulted in a total of 363,900 views of all the matches. The sponsorship of Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was behind this success. This sponsorship helped promote interest in and understanding of blind football and people living with visual impairment. At the awards ceremony, the Santen Fair Play Award was presented.
  • 2021 IBSA Blind Football European Championships Division 2

    Summary
    Host : Bucharest, Romania
    Romania, Albania, Greece and Poland took part in the tournament, which consisted of eight matches over four days.
    Achievement
    This championship marked the first time the IBF Foundation supported a competition from development. We connected the Japanese pharmaceutical company Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and helped them become a sponsor of the tournament. The Romanian Country Manager of Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. was invited to the venue to help build relations with the tournament organisers and the Romanian blind football team. He also agreed to be a presenter at the awards ceremony. All matches were streamed live on the IBSA YouTube channel. The quality of the local broadcast staff ensured that the opening match was viewed more than 1,800 times.
  • 2019 IBSA Blind Football Asian Championships

    Summary
    Host : Pattaya, Thailand
    China, Thailand, South Korea, India, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, and Oman took part in the tournament. China won six consecutive Asian Championship titles between 2007 and 2019. This tournament decided the two slots from Asia for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games.
    Achievement
    The IBF Foundation had the responsibility to broadcast live, financially support the local organising committee, and activate sponsorships at an international competition for the first time. The local organising committee received financial and knowledge-based support. Broadcasting, professional photographers and English commentators were organised and paid for by the IBF Foundation. Total views through IBSA’s YouTube channel and the local organising committee’s Facebook page reached 71,001. Santen Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. not only collaborated financially, but also brought employees who participated as volunteers in different roles. The participants felt that it was a great experience and a unique opportunity to gain new insight. The quality of the local broadcast ensured that the opening match was viewed more than 1,800 times.
